What the numbers mean....
10: Catchy chorus and verses. Cool guitar. The type of song I'd crank on my stereo in the general public and want to learn to play on guitar or piano.
9: A pretty damn cool song, but has a minor flaw or two. Maybe dumb lyrics, unnoticeable guitar, or boring melody lines in part of the song. Crankable in front of most audiences. If an album was full of these songs, it'd still kick ass.
8: Above average--not a bad song, pretty good, actually, just not quite as catchy. I wouldn't buy an album based on a song like this, but I'd tolerate it; listen to it; might even catch myself enjoying it.
7: Average song--nothing to go crazy over. Probably would skip it on a CD from time to time--often, actually. But I wouldn't complain too much about it. Still better than rap, country, and pop.
6: Pretty crappy--I'd most likely skip it on a CD. May have a few redeeming qualities, but not much more than that. A lot of grunge would fall under this category, as would a lot of country and pop music.
5-0: Mostly a category for rap, country, bad grunge, and bad pop. You have to stink pretty bad to be down here. I'd be embarrassed to play this music in my car; I'd hate to play it alone. Every once in a while, a decent group will play a song down here, but not often.
